M2A is a magnetic field shielding foil designed to attenuate magnetic fields from alternating current (standard household electricity, 50 Hz) as well as static magnetic fields (DC fields). Despite its ultra-thin design, the shielding attenuation against magnetic fields is already 12 dB with just a single layer!

Thanks to its aluminum surface, M2A also provides excellent shielding against high-frequency (HF) electrosmog and is groundable, meaning electric fields can be reliably dissipated.

M2A is our new magnetic field shielding foil and a broadband all-rounder against electrosmog. In addition to its high shielding attenuation performance against magnetic fields (12 dB with just one layer!), M2A, thanks to its aluminum surface, also provides excellent shielding against HF radiation (up to 125 dB!) and is therefore groundable.

M2A is an extremely thin magnetic field shielding foil that blocks low-frequency magnetic fields. For this product, two layers of high-tech magnetic field shielding foils have been bonded together. The underside is protected by a laminating film, while the surface is made of aluminum, making the foil ideally suited for highly effective high-frequency shielding (mobile networks, Wi-Fi, etc.) as well as for grounding and dissipating electric fields.

It is suitable for both smaller surfaces in households or electronics and large-scale applications in construction, commercial, or industrial settings. The 100-meter roll length is particularly advantageous for large surfaces, enabling efficient installation. Furthermore, the foil offers diverse applications in cars, electric vehicles, vans, motorhomes, and caravans.

Shielding of Static Magnetic Fields

It is well known that classic MUMETALL® can shield static magnetic fields. However, with the usual 0.1 mm thick foils, this attenuation is very low, and the cost factor is high.

The same applies to the M2A magnetic field shielding foil. For relevant shielding of static magnetic fields—such as those from DC consumers, permanent magnets, or the Earth’s magnetic field—multiple layers of shielding foil are necessary. Conclusion: Without a suitable magnetic field measuring device for continuous monitoring during processing, effective shielding of static magnetic fields is not feasible.

Processing the M2A Magnetic Field Shielding Film

Warning: Risk of injury from cuts!
You can cut M2A with high-quality scissors. However, the cut edges are then as sharp as a knife and must be immediately protected after cutting, e.g., with adhesive tape! Use cut-resistant gloves during processing!

For larger wall surfaces, note that the material acts as a vapor barrier.

Processing with Adhesive:
Choose an adhesive that can bond the PET (polyethylene terephthalate) laminate film. There are high-viscosity mounting adhesives for solid substrates or flexible plastic adhesives for bonding, e.g., under car carpets. Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.

Non-absorbent substrates or multiple layers can be problematic because the solvent cannot dry due to the vapor-tight film. For this reason, we recommend our adhesive PSA, which forms a self-adhesive layer after application and drying.

Processing with Stapler or Nailer:
For suitable substrates, we recommend mounting with an electric stapler or nailer. For a single layer including overlap, a mid-range electric stapler is sufficient; for ten or more layers, you’ll need a professional nailer. The shielding surface must overlap by at least 2 cm.

Multi-layer Installation:
Always install the strips offset, with the surfaces covering the overlaps underneath.

High-Frequency Shielding: The aluminum top surface provides excellent shielding against high-frequency fields. For this, the strips must overlap by 3 cm. Since a thin gap remains despite the overlap due to the laminating film on the underside, we recommend using the shielding tape HNX50.

Grounding the M2A Shielding Film

This product with an electrically conductive surface must be grounded by integration into the functional potential equalization (FPA).

The resale of custom-cut shielding material of this performance class is either not possible or only possible with significant financial loss, and therefore legally falls under the exception to the right of withdrawal. By ordering custom-cut running meters, your right of withdrawal expires; by placing the order, you accept our cancellation terms and waive your right to return.

Fairness in Product Pricing
Surcharges for small quantities up to 3 running meters have been eliminated for reasons of transparency and fairness.
