M2L is a magnetic field shielding film for shielding attenuation of magnetic fields from alternating current (standard household electricity, 50 Hz) as well as static magnetic fields (DC field). Despite being an ultra-thin shielding film, the shielding attenuation against magnetic fields is already 12 dB – with just one layer!

By the way: for simple shielding in domestic environments, a single-layer application is usually sufficient. And for high magnetic flux densities, multiple layers can be used. In addition to the applications already mentioned, there are further uses, such as in cars, electric vehicles, vans, motorhomes, and caravans.
Shielding of static magnetic fields
It is widely known that classic MU-METAL® is capable of shielding static magnetic fields. However, this attenuation is very low with the usual 0.1 mm thick films, while being costly at the same time.
The situation is similar with the M2L magnetic field shielding film. For relevant shielding of static magnetic fields, numerous layers of shielding film are also required here – DC consumers, permanent magnets, or the Earth’s magnetic field. Conclusion: Without a suitable magnetic field measuring device for continuous monitoring during application, meaningful shielding of static magnetic fields is not achievable.

Magnetic Field Shielding (Static | DC Field): DC consumers, Earth’s magnetic field, and permanent magnets are only significantly shielded with many layers.

We do not declare ingredients and magnetic properties for innovation reasons. The high-tech material has high initial permeability and high saturation induction from 5 Hz to 100 kHz.
Processing the M2L Magnetic Field Shielding Film
Warning: Risk of injury from cuts!
You can cut M2L with high-quality scissors. However, the cut edges are then as sharp as a knife and must be immediately protected after cutting, e.g., with adhesive tape! Use cut-resistant gloves during processing!
For larger wall surfaces, note that the material acts as a vapor barrier.
Processing with Adhesive:
Choose an adhesive that can bond the PET (polyethylene terephthalate) laminate film. There are high-viscosity mounting adhesives for solid substrates or flexible plastic adhesives for bonding, e.g., under car carpets. Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
Non-absorbent substrates or multiple layers can be problematic because the solvent cannot dry due to the vapor-tight film. For this reason, we recommend our adhesive PSA, which forms a self-adhesive layer after application and drying.
Processing with Stapler or Nailer:
For suitable substrates, we recommend mounting with an electric stapler or nailer. For a single layer including overlap, a mid-range electric stapler is sufficient; for ten or more layers, you’ll need a professional nailer. The shielding surface must overlap by at least 2 cm.
Multi-layer Installation:
Always install the strips offset, with the surfaces covering the overlaps underneath.
Grounding the M2L Shielding Film
When shielding magnetic fields, also consider electric fields. To avoid the propagation of electric fields, grounding is necessary.
M2L is fully laminated, but there is a solution for contacting: Attach our grounding tape GSX to all surfaces. Staple or nail through the grounding tape. The staples or nails connect the film and grounding tape.

No Right of Withdrawal for the M2L Shielding Film
As is common with custom-cut products, there is no right of return for the M2L shielding film. Please note that a right of withdrawal does not apply to this product, as it is specifically cut for the customer. Resale of custom-cut goods is no longer possible. For this reason, a free M2L shielding film sample request is available. By ordering custom-cut goods, the waiver of the statutory right of withdrawal is accepted.
Surcharges for small quantities up to 3 running meters have been eliminated for reasons of transparency and fairness. Thus, a single running meter always has the same price or price advantage for larger quantities. To cover processing and packaging costs, we charge a flat rate of €6.90 per cut.
